Counseling (Español)

Santos Polanco

Nacido en Moca, República Dominicana, demostró excelencia académica en el Colegio Máximo Gómez. Después de estudiar inicialmente Biología Marina en la Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo, descubrió su pasión por los Negocios Internacionales en la Universidad APEC (Acción Pro Educación Cultura). Representó a su universidad en foros internacionales antes de embarcarse en un proyecto empresarial en Perú en 2017, interrumpido por la pandemia. Se trasladó a los Estados Unidos en 2020 y comenzó a hacer trabajo voluntario en las Escuelas Públicas de Arlington, donde facilitó la integración de la comunidad hispana en inglés como segundo idioma. Completó un certificado en Consejero de Rehabilitación en Abuso de Sustancias en el Northern Virginia Community College y ahora está certificado a nivel estatal como Consejero Certificado en Abuso de Sustancias. Actualmente, está estudiando coaching en salud mental y nutrición, y trabaja en A Ross Special Addictions Counseling, dónde está comprometido en servir a la comunidad hispana.

    Counseling

    Christina Hampton

    Christina Hampton is a dedicated licensed Resident in Counseling currently working at A Ross Special Addictions Counseling in Fredericksburg & Alexandria, Virginia. With a master’s degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling from Walden University, Christina specializes in providing compassionate and evidence-based therapeutic services to clients of all ages. She is proficient in various therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).

    In her current role, Christina conducts comprehensive intake assessments, develops individualized treatment plans, and offers both individual and group counseling sessions. She is committed to helping clients overcome challenges related to anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance abuse, always aiming to foster resilience and promote mental well-being.

    Christina actively participates in ongoing professional development and regular supervision to enhance her skills and ensure the highest quality of care for her clients. Her dedication to her profession is reflected in her empathetic approach and strong therapeutic alliances with clients.

    Outside of her clinical work, Christina enjoys attending local community mental health events and staying current with the latest advancements in psychotherapy. She aspires to become a licensed professional counselor and continue making a positive impact in the field of mental health.

      Psychotherapist

      Sultana Karim

      Sultana Karim is the Owner and Psychotherapist at Karim Counseling Services, PLLC. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in MD, VA, DC, & MI, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional (PMH-C). She has over 12 years of clinical experience and specializes in treating sexual and domestic violence, perinatal/ maternal mental health, pregnancy and infant loss, birth trauma, and childhood trauma in her practice. She works with Villa Advocacy Group and Virginia Maternal Quality Care Alliance to provide education and support to perinatal families. She is an Approved Clinical Supervisor for LPC and LMFT by the Virginia Board of Counseling & Maryland. She has presented on the topics of racial and ethnic disparities in perinatal mental health, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), cultural humility, impact of domestic violence on children, child sexual abuse, play therapy, perception on seeking counseling, bullying and cyberbullying on mental health, and perception of race and gender.
